About

Dates: October 11-13, 2024

Location: McCormick Park, 300 N Putnam Street, Williamston MI 48895

Experience the art of chainsaw wood carving as artists bring new life to the beloved tree sculptures in Williamston’s McCormick Park along the Red Cedar River. In 2009, carvers descended on the city to turn trees decimated by the emerald ash borer into works of art. Unfortunately, ash does not hold up well, and it’s time to replace them to be enjoyed for many more years to come. This is an opportunity to learn about the craft, see the trees transformed, and purchase an original sculpture from some amazing chainsaw artists – including top prize winners from the 2009 event. Hosted by the Friends of Williamston Parks, the weekend event will celebrate Williamston’s artistic heritage and revive one of the most unique aspects of this downtown riverside park.

Friends of Williamston Parks will be hosting carvers at the McCormick Park, October 11-13 for live carving, food, entertainment, and a small auction to benefit local area park improvements.

Many carvers will bring finished pieces with them to sell directly.

October in Michigan can be unpredictable, but we can guarantee you’ll have a great time at this community-centered event. You won’t want to miss it!
